Program Requirements

The four-year program in agricultural communications is the only one of its kind in the state of Missouri. This comprehensive program teaches students to develop skills in interpersonal communication, technical skills and storytelling. The degree program below is for a student coming to Missouri State for the first time as a freshman. Your schedule may look different depending on your situation.

Agricultural Communications (Comprehensive)

Bachelor of Science

Major requirements (78-79 hours):

Note: 13-14 hours may double count toward the General Education requirements.

  1. Specific General Education requirements:
    1. AGR 100(3).
    2. BIO 101(3) and 111(1); or BIO 121(4).
    3. CHM 107(3) and 108(1); or CHM 116(4) and 117(1); or CHM 160(4).
    4. GEP 101(2) or UHC 110(2) or AGR 301(1).
  2. General Agriculture courses: AGS 101(3); AGN 115(3) or AGP 103(3); AGN 215(3); AGB 144(4); AGR 490(1).
  3. Agricultural Communications courses: AGC 183(3), 293(3), 313(3), 323(3), 333(3), 343(3), 373(3), 393(3), 493(3), 499(1); AGR 499(2); COM 209(3).
  4. Three additional upper division hours from each of the following three areas:
    1. Agricultural Business (AGB).
    2. Animal Science (AGS).
    3. Environmental Plant Science and Natural Resources (AGP/AGN).
  5. In consultation with advisor, select an additional nine hours in courses numbered 300 or higher from the following subject codes: AGB, AGN, AGP, AGR, AGS, COM, JRN, MED, MGT, MKT.
  6. Public Affairs Capstone Experience Requirement will be fulfilled by completion of AGC 493(3).
