  • Native simple perennial of prairies and rangelands with stout rootstock
  • With age, will produce clumps of upright, hairy, mostly unbranched stems that grow 8-16 inches tall
  • Leaves are lanceolate to linear, held upright and overlapping on stems, covered with hairs, including some glandular hairs
  • Flowers are in head inflorescences about 1 inch across, with 12-24 white ray flowers and 12-24 yellow disk flowers
  • Bracts below the inflorescence are elongated, hairy with reddish tips
  • Not a weed problem
