Wild Germander, American Germander:

  • a creeping, perennial that produces rhizomes and sometimes tubers; grows 1-4’ tall
  • has opposite, hairy , lanceolate leaves, hairy square stems and terminal spikes of pinkish-white flowers in mid-summer
  • prefers moist, fertile soils--found along streambanks, roadsides, aquatic areas, in some cultivated fields, gardens, landscape beds
