Ambrosia acanthicarpa Hook., Annual Bursage: (Bayer Code: FRSAC; US Code AMAC2)

  • A summer annual weed in the same genus as common ragweed, but found more in the western part of the Midwest
  • Leaves often have more grayish hairs than annual ragweed, and are stiffer in texture, plus have a medicinal or bad odor if bruised
  • Inflorescence is similar to common ragweed, but is followed by large, burred seeds, with spiny burs
  • Found in disturbed, sandy, dry soils
