- leaves glaucous, opposite, mostly scale-like leaves, blue-green to blue, turning purplish in winter, ground-hugging
- many, many cultivars
- grows 6"-2' high (depending on cultivar) and 4-8' spread
- requires full sun to part shade, well-drained soils
- slow to medium growth rate
- spider mites and Phomopsis blight can be serious pests
