Liriope spicata: Creeping Lilyturf
Location on campus: in the bed to the north of the west entrance to Karls Hall, and in the planting beds along the east side of Plaster Stadium.
- similar to lilyturf or monkey grass, except leaves slightly shorter and narrower; leaves can be green or variegated with white margins
- slightly shorter than above; flowers similar
- spreads by underground stems to form a dense sod of groundcover with time
- prefers part shade, but will tolerate full sun if not too hot; wide soil adaptability
