Juglans regia: English Walnut
- deciduous, alternate, pinnately compound leaves with 5-9 leaflests; leaflets lanceolate, 2-5" long and 1/2 as wide
- twigs stout with large terminal buds; bark is smooth light gray until older when large flat ridges form
- grows 40-60' tall and equally as wide, medium growth rate
- nuts are shed easily from husks (compared to black walnut)
- native to Europe and China
- prefers moist, fertile, well-drained soils
