- connate leaves (encircling stem) under terminal flower clusters
- flowers in terminal umbels; coral red/orange, slender, trumpet-shaped; non-fragrant; flowers in mid-late spring
- hummingbird attractant
- prefers full sun to moderate shade; moist, well-drained, high organic matter soil
- fast growth rate
