Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Crippsii:’ Golden Hinoki False Cypress (shrub)
- needles in pairs of two different shapes and sizes, arranged in a flattened pattern on the stem, with flat sprays drooping on tips; bright green above with yellow new growth to give “golden" color to tips; smaller leaves with white X mark on them
- grows to 25' tall in slender, pyramidal shape
- fruit is a small orange-brown cone
- prefers full sun and moist, well-drained soil in a protected (not too windy) area
- medium to slow growth rate
