Salix alba ‘Tristis:’ Golden Weeping Willow
- leaves alternate, deciduous, lanceolate-linear with serrate margins; dark green, shiny on top, whitish underneath; 1.5-4" long, about 1/4 as wide
- stems slender, light yellow to yellow green, smooth and shiny and very flexible/weepy
- bark is brown, with thick corky ridges and furrows with age
- grows 50-70' tall in rounded or irregular outline with pendulous new growth
- prefers full sun and moist, fertile, soils
- fast growth rate
- prone to stem/branch breakage in wind and ice storms; generally short-lived tree
