Location on Missouri State University campus: on south side of Lot 22 and 24, south of Grand St.
Koelreuteria paniculata: Goldenraintree
- leaves alternate, deciduous, pinnately or bipinnately compound with 7-15 leaflets; leaflets 1-2" long and 2 as wide and lobed margins; dark green and glabrous above; somewhat pubescent underneath; may have good yellow fall color
- stems stout, olive to light brown, glabrous with prominent, raised, orange-brown lenticels and white pith
- bark is gray brown with ridges and furrows on older trunks
- grows 30-40' tall in rounded or spreading outline
- flowers are yellow, showy in large open terminal panicles from early to late summer; fruit is a 3-sided capsule with round, black seeds inside
- prefers full sun to part shade; soil adaptable, except very wet soils
- medium to fast growth rate
