Indian Mustard, Chinese Mustard, Brown Mustard:

  • Asian-native, winter annual that first produces a rosette of 3-10 inch long, smooth to slightly-hairy, leaves that are lobed in their lower portions; terminal lobe is more rounded at tip than similar wild mustard leaves
  • Grows 1 5 feet" tall, with smaller, oblong leaves on stems
  • Flowers small, yellow in terminal racemes
  • Produces 0.75-2.5 inch long pods that stand out from stalk, and abundant seeds
  • Common in winter annual crops; can be high in nitrates and oxalates that can cause livestock toxicity, if grazed
