Jerusalem Oak:

  • spreading to upright, much-branched summer annual with medium to light green, fuzzy leaves
  • leaves have shape of an oak leaf and have strong, disagreeable odor if crushed
  • flowers are tiny in the axils of the leaves
  • entire plant--leaves, stems--are hairy
  • prefers moist, well-drained, fertile soils
  • occasional weed in southwest Missouri--often brought to sites by new nursery plants
