Location on campus: by south entrance to Baker Bookstore; by east entrance to Magers Health Center; in landscape bed on east side of Karls Hall; in garden on north side of Meyer Library and south of Kings Street Annex
Viburnum carlesii: Koreanspice Viburnum
- leaves opposite, simple, ovate, deciduous, very pubescent above and below with irregularly toothed margins; leaves 1-4" long and about 2/3 as wide
- stems light brown to gray with dense hairs; older stems have fissures; naked leaves in buds
- size 8' x 8', rounded, dense shrub with stiff upright branches
- flowers very fragrant in pink to white clusters at branch tips and some from lateral buds in mid spring
- fruit is a red changing to black drupe
- prefers full sun to part shade; does best in moist, well-drained soil
- slow to medium growth rate (although MSU plants have fast growth rate)
