Berberis x mentorensis: Mentor Barberry
- leaves semi-evergreen, simple, ovate, alternate, dark green, leathery, rough textured on top with entire or slightly spined (1-5 very tiny spines) margins
- leaves about 1/2" long and 1/2 as wide; leaves appear in clusters at nodes, but are not whorled, are alternate
- stems angled, brown with 1 - 3 spines per node
- grows to 5' tall and 5-7' wide
- flowers not significant
- prefers full sun to part-shade, adaptable to many soils types, but prefers drier soils
- medium to fast growth rate
