Nuttall Povertyweed:

  • low-growing, native summer annual, with spreading growth habit--6 inches tall by up to 18-24 inches wide
  • stems usually reddish, somewhat succulent
  • leaves dark-green to gray-green, spearhead-shaped sometimes with “mealy" texture
  • found in floodplains, open woods, streambanks; tolerant of salty soils and water
  • usually indicates poor soil quality if found in abundance
