Nuttall Povertyweed:
- low-growing, native summer annual, with spreading growth habit--6 inches tall by up to 18-24 inches wide
- stems usually reddish, somewhat succulent
- leaves dark-green to gray-green, spearhead-shaped sometimes with “mealy" texture
- found in floodplains, open woods, streambanks; tolerant of salty soils and water
- usually indicates poor soil quality if found in abundance
