  • Native, creeping perennial vine with creeping roots in the Passionflower Family (Passifloraceae)
  • Climbs by clasping tendrils
  • Leaves and stems bright green; leaves usually 3-lobed
  • Flowers large, showy, usually whitish with many purple-striped “threads" surrounding the center
  • Fruit is a green, egg-shaped capsule with pulpy flesh surrounding the seeds; not as tasty as the regular edible passionfruit
  • Sometimes cultivated, but can invade landscape beds, gardens
