- Climbs by clasping tendrils
- Leaves and stems bright green; leaves usually 3-lobed
- Flowers large, showy, usually whitish with many purple-striped “threads" surrounding the center
- Fruit is a green, egg-shaped capsule with pulpy flesh surrounding the seeds; not as tasty as the regular edible passionfruit
- Sometimes cultivated, but can invade landscape beds, gardens
