Cool-season annual grass with usually hairless leaf blades and stems, but slightly hairy sheaths
Inflorescence a drooping panicle with spikelets out toward branch tips
Spikelets slender, flattened, with long awns
Fairly common in southwest Missouri, in less fertile, disturbed sites
