Rat-tail Fescue:
- Cool-season annual grass with very slender upright stems and leaves, grows 4-12 inches tall
- Not a true fescue grass
- Leaves soft, slender, light-green to gray green without hairs
- Inflorescence is a long, spike-like, feathery compressed panicle
- Found in dry and infertile soils as well as some compacted soil sites
