Location near campus: between Foster Recreation Center and Blair-Shannon.

  • native warm-season bunchgrass, with about 1/2 to � inch wide and 4-9 inch long blue-green leaves
  • grows 2-5’ tall
  • at tips of flowering stems, produces dangling panicles with green flattened spikelets (look like flattened feathers ▲) that turn bronze-brown as they ripen
  • foliage turns tan in winter
  • prefers moist soils and tolerates moderate shade
  • native to Missouri
