Deutzia gracilis: Slender Deutzia

  • leaves opposite, simple, deciduous, lanceolate, medium to light green with serrate margins; 2-3" long, 1/2 as wide
  • stems slender, curving tan to gray; older bark peeling, gray
  • grows 2-3’ tall and 3-4’ wide
  • has panicles of fragrant, white flowers in mid-spring at tips of branches
  • prefers full sun to light shade, tolerant of most soils
  • thin older branches as needed to keep flowering
  • medium growth rate
