Soft Brome:

  • Has pubescent leaves and leaf sheaths, like downy brome, but inflorescence spikelets are fatter, and broader, with few to many hairs
  • Panicle is also more upright, with short branches to spikelets
  • Can get taller than other Missouri annual bromegrasses--up to 3’ tall
  • Becoming increasingly more common in southwest Missouri
