- also a creeping perennial spread by rhizomes
- has similar leaves to hemp dogbane, but stems are more wide spreading, and leaves are attached more horizontally or drooping from stems
- flower larger, bell-shaped, pinkish-white at tips of branches; fruit is pair of slender, long pods
- more common in northern Midwest in pastures, some in reduced tillage areas
- also toxic to livestock
