Yucca thompsoniana

Agavaceae (Agave Family)

Yucca thompsoniana: Thompson’s Yucca (also includes Yucca rostrata, Silver Yucca or Beaked Yucca)

  • has slender, 1/2" wide, 2 foot long leaves of pale green to medium green or blue green forming a dense rosette at top of plant (Y. rostrata often is the bluer yucca form)
  • leaves do not have fibers along the margins
  • forms a trunk with age up to a height of 12-15 feet tall; trunk is gray-fibrous as leaves fall off with age
  • flower stalks at top of plants have panicles of white flowers in late May to early June

Thompson's Yucca also now includes the species Yucca rostrata, Beaked Yucca, which has more blue foliate than the usual Thompson's Yucca
