- Needles in pairs, gray-green to blue-green, with keeled or rounded backside, usually scale-like, but sometimes more spreading on vigorous shoots; leaves have bad odor if crushed
- Medium-sized tree with strong weeping growth habit on lateral branches; general pyramidal to conical shape; branchlets are flattened
- Fruit is a small, brown cone
- Prefers full sun and moist, well-drained soil
