  • large, upright-growing annual grass, 2-6’ tall
  • leaves are broad with long hairs on both sides, and sheaths have long, stiff hairs that stand out from stem; leaves up to 1" wide
  • inflorescences is a drooping whitish to light green panicle with spikelets at the end of the panicle branches and round little seeds
  • found in fertile, moist soils; is common in reduced tillage row crops, horticultural crops
