  • warm-season, clump-forming grass with thin, blue-green leaves that grow 2-3 feet tall
  • has large open, panicles with tiny flower cluster that are silvery-blue-green to whitish in color that are on stems 3-4 feet tall
  • leaves and inflorescences sway in the breeze (hence the name)
  • prefers dry, well-drained soils, for more compact growth
  • winter color is tan-gray
  • native to southeastern U.S.
