- warm-season annual grass with upright to spreading growth habit from 1-3’ tall
- leaves medium green, hairy on upper surface and crinkle on one side of leaf blade
- inflorescence a branched panicle, with hairy rachis and cup-like florets/seeds with hairs at base
- introduced from Asia and becoming more common in corn crops
