Yellow Bluestem:

  • warm-season perennial grass with spreading, mostly bunch-type growth habit
  • one of the old-world bluestems (similar to Caucasian Bluestem)
  • has thin, light green, rolled leaves with long hairs at base of leaf blades
  • inflorescences is a tan to purplish digitate panicle on top of slender, nearly leafless culm
  • not common, but will spread once established in a lawn
