Pricing and Ordering

General Information

Our grapes are available as two types of cuttings:

  • Class I, dormant cuttings, collected in February, sold unrooted
    • Order deadline: February 15
  • Class II, green shoot cuttings, collected in June, rooted under mist
    • Order deadline: June 15

We do not stock any type of cutting or plants, we only propagate on demand.

Class I dormant cuttings will require a cold rooting bed with bottom heat at 60-65F for rooting. A rooting bed can be set up in an unheated garage or similar structure. Light is not required during rooting.

Class II green shoot cuttings have already been rooted in a greenhouse under mist when you receive them. However these cuttings are NOT ready to be planted in a vineyard immediately. They will need to be potted up, singly or in large containers in groups, for the acclimation process. For the hardening off process they need to be placed in full shade initially and moved into full sun gradually. The cuttings can be planted in the fall, or they can be overwintered in an unheated garage or similar environment and planted the following spring.

Note: some plants will die during the acclimation process, especially in Norton. This is a natural process, not linked to mishandling or other damage. We will include approximately 10% additional plants for Norton orders to compensate, but we will NOT replace plants.

Ordering

Please order the propagation materials by the times indicated. Orders will be filled in the order that they were received and paid, if you order later than the deadlines indicated we cannot guarantee the availability of the cultivars you want. Payment in full and signed Grower (Non-propagation) Agreement are required before we start propagating or collecting cuttings for your order. For orders from outside the US, we also require a copy of your importation permit before we can fill your order.

Note: Due to the low rooting percentage of dormant cuttings (class I) from the variety Norton, we only make greenshoot cuttings (class II) of this variety available to the public. Please ask about exceptions to that rule.

Shipping

You will receive an invoice for the shipping cost after your order has shipped. Due to the high amount of stress of the rooted greenwood cuttings in summer, we will only ship these as next day delivery. Pick up on location is encouraged for these plants, their survival increases greatly. We will try to accommodate specific shipping dates to make sure someone is home when the cuttings get there if at all possible.

Payment

All orders must be paid in full before plants are shipped.
