Blue Vervain:

  • Native, short-lived, simple perennial that grows 2-4 feet tall with slender terminal spikelets with purplish-blue flowers
  • Leaves lanceolate, with indented veins, bright green, with some rough hairs (not woolly as with Hoary Vervain
  • Similar to hoary vervain except blue vervain leaves have petioles and blue vervain is more commonly found in wet soils along streams and lakes
