Bracted Plantain:

  • has very slender leaves held more upright than buckhorn plantain
  • inflorescence spike is longer than buckhorn plantain, and prominent leafy bracts protrude beyond flowers
  • inflorescence also has conspicuous white hairs on the bracts
  • found on dry, neutral to alkaline soils; can tolerate close mowing
  • woolly plantain appears similar, but lacks the prominent bracts found on bracted plantain
