Bracted Plantain:

has very slender leaves held more upright than buckhorn plantain
inflorescence spike is longer than buckhorn plantain, and prominent leafy bracts protrude beyond flowers
inflorescence also has conspicuous white hairs on the bracts
found on dry, neutral to alkaline soils; can tolerate close mowing
woolly plantain appears similar, but lacks the prominent bracts found on bracted plantain
