Common Broadleaf Plantain:
- rosette forming, simple perennial with fibrous root systems in the Plantaginaceae (Plantain) family
- leaves oval, narrowing near attachment to crown
- larger leaves, purplish leaf base = blackseed plantain
- smaller leaves, green leaf base = common broadleaf plantain
- flowers all along an upright spike (not clustered as with buckhorn plantain)
- blooms spring to early summer
- reproduces readily by seed
