  • more common on sandy soils
  • has more branches from base, and more flowers usually are blooming at one time (showy) than common or biennial evening primrose
  • flower petals are diamond-shaped, and have a rounded point at the tip, compared to the blunt or notched petal tips of common evening primrose
  • stem leaves are narrower and much shorter and more dense on fourpoint evening primrose
