Syringa reticulata: Japanese Tree Lilac
- leaves opposite, deciduous, simple, ovate to chordate; similar in size and shape to common lilac, but slightly pubescent and rough textured on leaf undersides
- stems stout, shiny brown and bark similar to cherry bark
- flowers white, fragrant in large terminal panicles in late spring on previous season's growth
- prefers full sun for best flowering and high organic matter soil, but very soil adaptable
- medium growth rate
- grow 20-30' tall and 15-25' wide as a small tree
