Location near Missouri State University campus: in 800 to 1000 blocks of South Kickapoo, two blocks east of MSU campus
Acer truncatum: Shangtung Maple, Purpleblow Maple
- leaves opposite, simple, decidous, palmately 5-lobed; shiny dark green above and paler beneath; leaves 3-5" wide and 2/3 as long
- stems shiny, reddish-brown when young with lenticels; leaf scars meet at point at nodes
- bark is medium brown and fissured
- prefers full sun and is very soil adaptable as is trident maple and amur maple
- grows 20-35' tall and almost or equally wide; pyramidal to rounded habit
- slow to medium growth rate
