Yellow Foxtail:
- smaller plant, sometimes spreading in nature, 6-18" tall
- stem bases flattened, has a few long hairs at base of leaf blades only
- inflorescence 1-3" long, very upright, often yellowish in color, also sometimes purplish
- seen in vegetable crops, lawns, roadsides, more tolerant of compaction and dry soils than green foxtail and giant foxtail
- compare also with bristly foxtail and knotroot bristlegrass or yellow bristlegrass
