Home Gardeners
The Fruit Experiment Station supports Missouri State University's statewide mission in Public Affairs. Workshops and events in general horticulture and fruit culture are held annually by faculty and staff.
The three-acre Horticulture Demonstration Area includes a vineyard, a tree fruit planting, a naturalized area and the Ozark Home Landscape. This area offers "hands-on" learning opportunities for the public. The Ozark Home Landscape is a part of the Horticulture Garden that highlights raised bed gardening.
The ArbNet accredited Ozark Arboretum is a greenspace dedicated to environmental education. A GIS map of the arboretum has been created so all trees are labeled. You can request a tree map to learn to identify the 75 species represented. A rain garden is currently being constructed in the arboretum. The Centennial Garden is also located in the arboretum area and serves as an example of an early 1900s foundation planting using period plants to enhance the architecture of historic Faurot Hall.
